Neste introduces 100% renewable fuel to Italy
Starting in January 2025, Finnish company Neste is partnering with Italian fuel distributor Firmin to bring Neste MY Renewable Diesel, classified as HVO100 to Italy for the first time. This initiative aims to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector.
This advanced biodiesel is derived exclusively from renewable raw materials, such as used cooking oils and waste fats. According to Neste, its use can cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil diesel over the product’s entire life cycle.
This makes it particularly well-suited for the Italian market, where there is an urgent demand for sustainable, low-impact solutions—especially considering that a substantial portion of road transport still relies on fossil diesel. Moreover, Neste MY Renewable Diesel is fully compatible with existing diesel engines, enabling widespread adoption without requiring modifications to vehicles or investments in new technologies.
