Urban Mobility Days 2022: Paola Cossu, CEO FIT Consulting, panelist of the “Zero-emission urban logistics” session

Urban Mobility Days 2022 returns from 20 to 22 September in the city of Brno, Czech Republic. The biennial conference, jointly organised in 2022 by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Mobility & Transport (DG MOVE), and the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, is a major event in the urban mobility calendar.

This year’s theme is “Moving people and goods more sustainably”: three days of meetings to talk about sustainable urban mobility, examining the latest challenges and solutions.

Paola Cossu, CEO FIT Consulting, will be one of the panelists in the “Zero-emission urban logistics” session on Wednesday 21 Semptember from 4 p.m to 5.30 p.m.

Urban logistics is essential to the functioning of urban economies, but has negative externalities such as emissions, air pollution and road congestion- all of which were aggravated during the pandemic by an increase in e-commerce activity and home deliveries, a trend which is likely to persist.

The session will explore how to reach zero-emission city freight logistics and last-mile deliveries through collaborations between and amongst local authorities and private stakeholders to integrate better logistics planning in overall urban mobility plans, as well as through innovative solutions (e.g. cargo bikes and zero-emission vehicles, new distribution models, modal shift).

Moderated by Sergio Fernández Balaguer, Head of International Department EMT – Municipal Transport Company of Madrid – Coordinator of LEAD Project, the session will be attended by Alex Van Breedam, CEO of TRI-VIZO; Laetitia Dablanc, Logistics City Chair at University Gustave Eiffel, France; Klaus Stodick, Consultant for City Logistics, CSR & Communication at UPS Deutschland; Tommaso Spanevello, Head of European Affairs, HAROPA Port; and Paola Cossu, CEO of FIT Consulting, Vice-Chair of ALICE Urban Logistics Thematic Group.

To link the European Commission’s urban mobility initiatives, this year’s conference coincides with European Mobility Week, which takes place from 16-22 September every year in over 3000 towns and cities in 50 countries worldwide.
