High-speed rail for deliveries: Amazon launches service between Paris and Lyon

High speed for Amazon deliveries between Paris and Lyon

Since May 2025, high-speed trains between Paris and Lyon have been transporting not only passengers but also parcels. Amazon, the global logistics giant, has secured a new express lane on France’s TGV trains through an agreement with Rail Logistics Europe, the new logistics division of state-owned railway company SNCF. Each train can carry around one thousand parcels, stored in sealed compartments located in the train’s technical zones, known as “soutes,” completely separate from passenger areas. Additional routes within France and towards Spain, the Benelux, and Germany are already being considered.
